03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

classic, minimalistic, groovy.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Saint Etienne - Nothing Can Stop Us

Driving to France as a kid.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

The Streets - Who Got the Funk?

This track is the closing song to 'Original Pirate Material', one of my favourite albums of all time. I like it because it's just a bit of fun at the end of quite a serious record. It closes it really nicely.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Palma Violets - Step Up for the Cool Cats

It was the first Palma Violets tour, they'd only released a couple of singles and some mates and I went to see them at Cambridge Junction. I remember hearing this song, which at the time they hadn't released and thinking how cool it was.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Style Council - Shout To The Top

It's such a different side to Paul Weller's Jam stuff, a more funky vibe which I love.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Thundercat - Black Qualls - Single Version

Thundercat's new single features another favourite artist of mine, Steve Lacey. They make a perfect duo.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Paris Angels - Perfume (Loved Up)

This song literally can't be played quietly, it's seminal.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Pink Floyd - See Emily Play - 2016 Remastered Version

My dad named me after this song, so it was constantly played throughout my childhood. A lot friends and family now say it reminds them of me.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

The Stone Roses - I Wanna Be Adored - Remastered

This song has gone down in history as an anthem, don't think it needs much explaining, the song speaks for itself.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Happy Mondays - Hallelujah - Club Mix

It's the perfect mix of the song, ends any night perfectly.
