Daiki Mori, Yokohama.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
There are too many that I can mention, but the one that came to my mind right now is Puma Blue. I have been listening to his music for about a year now and my favourite is the ‘Live at Paste Studio ATL’ which I saw on YouTube. I like the fashion and as well as the location of that studio, including the carpet there. He is an artist but also a fashion icon I believe.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Jay Adams. I loved the vibe and styles of LA when I was skateboarding, the check shirts and the tattooed look inspired me as a student.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
A cafe in Brooklyn, NY called the Little Skips. It was in my neighbourhood when I was staying there for a long time and I used to go about five times a week. There were a lot of unique baristas, including this lady with no arms who always kindly talked to me, and I was drawn to her because of her beautiful smile. The music was good there, sometimes they played classics, and there was a good sense of community space. Also, I forgot the name of the place, but the bar next to it was always packed, even though there were no people in town. Interesting people were always there and it was a place where I could talk to them and communicate with them to practice my English.

If you could be on the line up with any bands in history?
To go with my current mood, then Yellow Days. Imagine streaming us playing a song in a spaceship, drifting around in zero gravity (laughs).

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I think I would go to 63rd West New York City back in 1980 to help John Lennon.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
This has got to be Puma Blue as not many people in Japan knows about him.
