Quade (Barney, Leo, Matt and Tom), Bristol.

Describe your style in three words?
Andrew Weatherall circa 2018 (if we had a few quid).

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The Tara Clerkin Trio at Strange Brew in Bristol or Nala Sinephro at Saint Matthias Church in Newington Green - both hypnotic, transcendental affairs.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
The Velvet Underground and CAN. Two of the best bands of all time, both with a penchant for violin. They both embodied special cultural movements in their respective countries; questioning social standards and expanding freedom of expression after particularly stifling periods.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
In terms of music, we have been influenced by a few UK subcultures that have centred around music of Jamaican origin. Pinnacle rocksteady is probably the most beautiful sound ever made, and we are all suckers for low-end driven dance music.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Paul Robeson, a true and genuine polymath with dignity and grace.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Crofters Rights small room in Bristol. We got totally lost playing two gigs in that small intimate space. It’s a brilliant, atmospheric spot that used to be a pub kitchen.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Kate Wright from Bristol post-rock band Movietone. They were much overlooked at the time but are now enjoying a little renaissance thanks to the release of their Peel Sessions on vinyl.
