03Interview

Name, what do you do?
My name is J. Alfredo (singer-songwriter), I started my career in music in 2006.

Describe your style in three words?
Black, baroque, Victorian.

What does the Fred Perry Shirt mean to you?
Pride, there is a certain pride when using this logo on my chest, I don't really understand, maybe because my idol is from the world of music and movies.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Pijar at Fred Perry Subculture Live @ Leon, 08.11.18. An amazing experience, play onstage with THE VACCINES.

If you could put any three bands in history on a lineup?
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Strokes and Tame Impala. Yup, until now, at my current age, and in this phase of my life right now, maybe they are still too influential on my work.

Another you? Any other career that would have appealed?
Painter, I love painting so much, I can get into it. To me, they are a different world. Where we can be anything.

One record you would keep forever?
'Is This It' by The Strokes. This album was a turning point for me, it was the first time I felt myself, it's hard to explain, and I think some things are better left unexplained, and left a mystery. This album is my identity.

Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
365 Ecobar, lots of sweet and bad experiences going on there, from playing for three people, up to one hundred people. It was very pleasant!

If you can make a record with anyone from history?
Nat King Cole, my grandfather really wanted it, and now I understand why.

A song you wished you had written?
'The Long And Winding Road' by The Beatles. Very sweet, very touching, and very calm.

04Playlist Notes

'The Modern Age' by The Strokes -
This was a turning point song while I was still studying. This song has a lot of meaning in my life, Julian is a lyricist that I really admire too.

'My Mistakes Were Made For You' by The Last Shadow Puppets.
For me, this is like a cool human form, like watching James Bond but the song version - Hats off to Alex Turner and Miles Kane.

'Can’t Stand Me Now' by The Libertines.
Forever Pete Doherty, Pete Doherty forever.

'Hey Scenesters!' by The Cribs.
High school, cigarettes, tattered jeans, tight t-shirts.

'Electric Feel' by MGMT.
This is the song that introduced me to psychedelics, so I went back to the old psychedelic bands.

'Nobody' by Mac DeMarco.
Quiet and comfortable.

'Sweet Song' by Blur.
One of the most beautiful songs of all time, I love Damon Albarn.

'She’s My Collar' by Gorillaz (ft. Kali Uchis).
Damon Albarn + Kali Uchis like chocolate and cheese. Very delicious!

'Sorcererz' by Gorillaz.
One of the best electronic recordings I have ever heard, I really like the dynamics in this song, layer by layer at the max and takes me to another dimension.

'Kumomi' by Nujabes.
Good Night.

'Let's Stay Together' by Al Green.
A song about love that I really like right now. The vocalist's voice, the tempo of the song, the bass, the drums and everything else in this song is romantic.

'Because I’m Me' by The Avalanches.
LEGEND!
