03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Barbershop ragga.

The first track you played on repeat?

Dexys Midnight Runners - Let's Make This Precious

Existing, creating, enjoying! Mr Rowland can be enjoyed in all circumstances.

A song from your favorite album?

LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends

It is all about movement! Its steady rhythm tracks the years so perfectly! Seems unlikely it can do this until it does five short years, ten and here we are! Pure GENIUS.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Edwin Starr - War

Colonel Bogey's nightclub in Sandown on the Isle of Wight. The man didn’t care, bouncers going mad at his off-stage performance! Much later than the hits but an undeniably talented performer.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Lord Invader - Cat-O-Nine tails

If calypso has not got you up and moving you’re probably dead.

A new song you're listening to?

Sons Of Kemet - For The Culture

That skank sax and hypnotic rhythm will make you writhe and wriggle like a snake being charmed from a basket!

Best song to turn up loud?

Derrick Laro - Don't Stop till You Get Enough - Michael Jackson Cover

Quincey! Baby. Keep on with the force don’t stop.

A song that defines the teenage you?

Beck - Loser

It defines the middle-aged me.

An anthemic song?

Blondie - Heart Of Glass

This is THE pop song all other songs aspire to be! End of.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

David Bowie - Golden Years - 2016 Remaster

A journey at the end.
