Describe your style in three words?

Modernist, Urban, Creative.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Dream On

I grew up around Two-Tone, Ska and Mod Revival music, especially Brit Pop! Ten year-old me started creating my own playlists and not just listening to dad's CD’s. NGHFB debut studio album was the soundtrack of my summer 2011, ‘Dream On’ especially.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Loyle Carner - Florence

‘Yesterday’s Gone’ is an album you can’t skip through. Never really into hip hop, Loyle Carner changed the game for me, his songs are like poems. ‘Florence’ speaks to me on a different level and seeing him perform live a few times with my brother by my side is a wicked feeling!

A song from your most memorable gig?

The Wombats - Techno Fan

My first gig when I was 13, The Wombats at Bristol O2 Academy with my brother and my dad. Till this day when any of us hear this song we turn it up and sing it together. That gig I understood what music did for people.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Toploader - Dancing in the Moonlight

Toploader’s ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ reminds me of a club in Bristol I used to go to quite regularly when I first started going out called Thekla. I met my current boyfriend there and can remember the song playing every Thursday, countless times.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Tom Misch - Nightrider

Tom Misch is bringing back contemporary jazz with hip-hop-inspired beats. I love his tracks from ‘Beat Tape 1’, since then another album release ‘Geography’, but this joint album effort with Yussef Dayes is what we need in the current world of lockdown to wind down.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

U2 - Beautiful Day

How can you not turn it up loud? This was one of the songs my dad would always play on a Saturday morning as loud as possible as soon as mum left the house. I grew up with it being an anthem, and having a few of U2’s best of albums in my car, it’s perfect when I’m driving solo.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Blondie - One Way Or Another - Remastered

I’m not sure if this was because my 12 year old self loved the fact One Direction did a cover of this song, or whether this was the song that declared my love for Blondie... Either way, both the cover and Blondie’s original were played a lot in my younger teenage years!

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Gorillaz - On Melancholy Hill

Amongst the other albums introduced to me as a 9 year old this is another that dad wouldn’t stop playing summer 2010. Gorillaz just headlined Glastonbury and I had a phone call during ‘Melancholy Hill’, even though I wasn’t there it really felt like I was.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

The Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows - Remastered 2009

After a long night out, getting back and sticking a record on is a ritual for me now. ‘Revolver’ continues my night out as I’m not quite ready to sleep. I know I’m ready to call it a night after ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’ plays.
