Porchlight, Brighton.

Describe your style in three words?
Layered, baggy, tucked.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Yak at Patterns, Brighton in 2019. We had been following this band for years and even jammed this track a few times in our early days, so they certainly inspired part of our foundation initially. There was something quite beautiful seeing Oli and our manager Archie slow dance amidst what I believe to be one of the most visceral live sets ever performed.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Chad Vangaalen and Duds. Duds disappeared so would be nice just to see them all in a room together again. Would love to have an opportunity to shoot the sh*t with Chaddy V. Seems like a very interesting bloke. Booking him just so I can have a beer with him after.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
The New York post-punk scene built around CBGBs in the '70s. Their refreshing take on music, culture and art has really changed our perceptions of our own music.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
David Bowie. It would be interesting to see what he thinks of the world now.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
We have enjoyed Patterns every time we have gone, always a nice variety of bands and electronic artists. Also, the contrast between the atmosphere of upstairs and downstairs on a night out is always hilarious.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
For me, it has to be Nick Cave. His back catalogue is astounding and sonically he's evolved from the roots of gothic post-punk right up to his recent works of electronica and ambient. His songwriting is deep, articulate and heartbreaking at times; his breadth as a musician is captivating. The rest of the guys hear me sing this man's praises enough so I'll just say that I saw him and Warren Ellis at the Royal Albert Hall last year and never have I wept so much.
