A YellowStraps Photo
Name, where are you from?
We are YellowStraps, from Brussels, Belgium.
Describe your style in three words?
Soul, chill, love.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
King Krule in Brussels, I think it was in 2013. It was the first time that we saw him live and we were discovering his music. It was an amazing experience.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Tom Misch and Tyler The Creator I’d say. Because they are both really inspiring for us and we really think that it would be sick!
Which Subcultures have influenced you?
The UK culture influenced us a lot, we grown up listening to Mount Kimbie, James Blake, Disclosure, King Krule, Bombay Bicycle Club, Corrinne Bailey Rae, Arctic Monkeys... We always loved the UK culture, it’s original and unique.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I think it would be Tyler The Creator because I’d learn a lot from him, from his vision of the world and the music. I think it would change my way of thinking.
Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
Dour festival. Because the vibe there is so special, and we have a lot of friends who play every year there so it’s nice!
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Jae Luna, he is a singer from California. He is so sick. We just released a track with him called ‘Time’ on SoundCloud. You should check this guy out!
The first track you played on repeat?
'Dayvan Cowboy' by Boards Of Canada.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'A Certain Romance' by Arctic Monkeys.
One record you would keep forever?
'Parachutes' by Coldplay.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
“One day I’m gonna have you but for now I don’t care,
I still feel the pain of you not loving me the same.”
From 'A Lizard State' by King Krule.
A song you wished you had written?
'Fluorescent Adolescent' by Arctic Monkeys.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Chamaa' by Le Motel.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Sorry' by Justin Bieber.
The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Track Uno' by Kaytranada.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Atoms Song' by Teebs.
Any new music you are into at the moment?
I am really into Ovrkast, Josman, DORJ.
