A Jerub Photo
I’m JERUB and I’m from Nigeria and Nottingham, UK.
I have just finished my degree in Social Work and now I am a music artist, singer and songwriter.
Casual with flare.
Jon Bellion and Chance the Rapper. Love them both. Jon Bellion was just unreal, the sound and his band, the musicality was incredible. And Chance was just a VIBE. Unreal performer.
Coldplay and Bon Iver. I have grown up listening to both of them and they are both iconic bands. I feel like both have been massively influential in the music that has been created in the past decade. I would be honoured to be on a line up with any of them.
Being from Nigeria, I’ve been massively influenced by family, Nigerian culture, even afrobeat music. Also growing up as a Christian, I’ve been massively influenced by gospel music. Ultimately, I’m influenced most by friends and family and the community around me.
This is a hard one. Maybe Prince. Every time I hear a story about Prince it sounds like he would have been great fun. So maybe Prince. I feel like I would have a great story to tell after that.
Nottingham Rescue Rooms – I love the venue because it’s quite big but still feels intimate. It was the last gig I played before lockdown, so it holds a special place in my heart.
I feel like I could nominate so many people. I’d say two. Jon Bellion. He’s an incredible songwriter and artist and has helped influence a lot of pop music we hear today. He’s not a household name but he’s definitely of that calibre. Secondly, Jake Isaac. This guy has been in the UK singer-songwriter scene for a minute and is great at what he does.
Jerub recently released his new track 'No Good Alone'. Listen, purchase or stream it via song.link/i/1575789467.
'Africa Queen' by 2Baba.
'The A Team' by Ed Sheeran.
'The Life of Pablo' by Kanye West.
“What I’ve learned from a mirror, look too hard and you’ll find you’re a stranger, love is just a decision, the choice is yours”
From 'Slow Up' by Jacob Banks.
'Slow Up' by Jacob Banks.
'Black' by Dave.
'What a Man Gotta Do' by Jonas Brothers.
'Don’t Jealous Me' by Beyonce.
'We Are Young' by fun.
I’m loving HONNE at the moment. Great duo!
