03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Classic Fred Perry.

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Madness - Baggy Trousers

First played it after hearing it on the radio, getting ready for primary school.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Blur - Tracy Jacks - 2012 Remaster

Perfect indie pop, from the perfect band on a perfect album.

A song from your most memorable gig?

My Bloody Valentine - Only Shallow

Kentish Town, early '90s. It was just one of those magical nights.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Raze - Break 4 Love

Reminds me of great nights in the late '80s when Balearic beat, Acid house and indie all mashed up in a perfect storm.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

The 1975 - If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know) - Edit

I am a recent convert. My eldest daughter got me switched on to them. They’re very good.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

If I’m in a great mood or a foul mood, this song does the trick, very loud in the car.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Stone Roses - Fools Gold - Remastered

It just takes me back to leaving school and partying. Great times.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Primal Scream - Loaded - Andy Weatherall Mix

It’s the perfect indie dance anthem. Reminds me of great Balearic nights and evenings in sweaty warehouses.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Sueño Latino - Sueno Latino - Paradise Version

The perfect comedown from an epic evening. This song is bordering on spiritual and puts the hairs on my neck up after over 30 years.
