Name, where are you from?
I’m Sam. I’m from Brighton but currently reside in London.

Describe your style in three words?
Bit of everything.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
The best gig I’ve ever been to was Oasis at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry when I was at school, I think it was 2008/9. It was their Dig it Out Your Soul tour and obviously not knowing it at the time – one of their last shows ever. I didn’t really know what to expect as I’d only just got into them, I think they opened with 'The Turning' and it just blew my mind from start to finish. I now know how much of a privilege it was to have seen them live.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I got really into the Mod subculture as a kid, I think being from Brighton it felt personal and accessible. I loved the fashion too - zoot suits, knitwear, loafers, a real eye to detail, it’s something that still influences my style today. Film was my main source of inspiration growing up and one of my favourites was the film the Sandlot, it got me into vintage Americana, American sports and culture. I also loved the film The Warriors. Walter Hill had such a stylistic way of portraying youth, subculture, and ethnicity in all the gangs. It was this really beautiful and inclusive way of portraying the world. My other influences include Ivy League, 1950s French/Italian Riviera, the TV series Magic City and films like Grease and Casablanca which portray culture more than subculture.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history, who would you choose?
Probably Walt Disney, that would be real cool. I’d chew his ear off for an hour about Disney films.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Mac Miller, purely for what he said about Donald Trump on The Nightly Show.
