Name, where are you from?
Adam (A), Dom (D), Sam, Rory and Lucas. We're from South Woodford in East London.
Describe your style in three words?
(A) Eclectic, Enigmatic and Endearing.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
(A + D) We went to see King Crimson at the Hackney Empire and have not seen anything like it. They had three drummer's across the front and we were in the front row. Walked back to station feeling dazed and insecure.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
(A) I'd go with Talking Heads because they're probably the band I'd most want to watch.
(D) I'd have to say The Smiths, for the same reason.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
(A) I'd say the post-punk/new wave movements heavily influenced the record and we're currently enjoying a lot of the stuff coming out of the South London scene. There's a lot of good stuff scattered around though.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
(A) I'd love to spend a good hour with Will Ferrell, I feel like he'd make me feel like everything was alright.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
(D) The Victoria as it's got a bookcase for the entrance to the venue, really nice lager and decent sound (although we nearly got deafened at a soundcheck once...)
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
(A) Sam Dust of LA Priest and Late Of The Pier, the man's seminal.
East London quintet 485C released their self-titled debut album in April 2018.
The first track you played on repeat?
(A) I remember listening/hearing to Cornershop's 'Brimful Of Asha' (Norman Cook Remix) when I was very young. Whether it was a conscious decision to or not I'm unaware, but I remember very much enjoying it.
A song that defines the teenage you?
(A+D) 'Careers in Combat' by Parquet Courts. Their first record had a profound effect when we were starting out the band, and been in love ever since.
One record you would keep forever?
(D) I'd go for 'Houses of the Holy' by Led Zeppelin, there's never a bad time to listen to that album.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
(A) Fat White Family "Hell hath no fury like a failed artist or a successful communist" There's obviously a lot of lyricists I love but this always stuck with me, although most of the time I can't understand what he's saying. Got to include them somewhere.
From 'Is It Raining In Your Mouth' by Fat White Family.
A song you wished you had written?
(D) 'Something' by The Beatles. It's an incredible song, and I think it paved the way for many other great tracks.
Best song to turn up loud?
(A) Three Trapped Tigers - 10.
(D) Three Trapped Tigers - 11.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
(A) 'Maria I'm Drunk' by Travis Scott (feat. Young Thug, Justin Bieber). The whole of Rodeo's great though.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
(D) 'Congratulations' by MGMT, not a bad song to end a playlist with either.
Any new bands you are listening to right now?
(A+D) Pleasure Complex, Honey Hahs, FEET, Sorry, Sports Team, Shame, Insecure Men, Goat Girl
