Name, where are you from? 
Akira, originally from Japan and Afghanistan, born and bred in Camden.

What do you do? 
When I’m not working in a pub, I’m running my brand Buntai, which is a newfound record label and clothing brand. Other than that I’m DJing for way too cheap.

Describe your style in three words? 
I couldn’t pin a word down to define my style but - broke and sexy!

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I know this is a festival but, Gorillaz at Boomtown 2018 changed my life, which was then followed thirty minutes later by the other best thing I’ve seen live, Kojey Radical.

If you could be on the lineup with any two bands in history?
If we’re talking strictly bands, I’m gonna have to say Gorillaz, but if I have room to tap into other artists I’ll have to go with Don Toliver. I say these two in particular because, unlike most artists/bands, I never get bored of listening to the same songs by them on repeat.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Growing up, the biggest subculture influence that impacted me was my grunge phase at around thirteen/fourteen, the style hasn’t necessarily stayed with me, but it was the first time I stepped out of the norm, changed how I carried myself and actually dressed how I wanted. In terms of the way I live my life now, it has to be the rave culture I was introduced to at around fifteen, which essentially led me to the position I am in now.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
That is such a hard question and I’ll probably regret it but...in all honesty first thing that came to mind was Kanye, Just to pick his brain. To be honest, the more I think about him the more my brain forgets any other person in the world so I’m gonna have to stick to that.

Of all the independent venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Haven’t really played at many if I’m honest, gonna have to say, The Cause in Tottenham, it holds a special place in my heart as it was the first club I ever played at.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
My unsung hero in music that deserves so much credit but isn’t given enough has to be Earl Sweatshirt, I have always loved his music and never understood why he wasn’t more widely known - lyrically he is a genius and he should be given the time of day for people to realise that - massive statement but I truly think he is one of the best rappers of our generation.
