Comedian — Tokyo
A Cookie Photo
Name
Cookie (YASEIBAKUDAN).
What do you do?
Comedian.
Where are you from?
Shiga.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
One was an Oi punk band called Bogey and Roy. And another one was Minako Honda, who I saw at Moriyama City Hall in Shiga when I was a student.
Which sub-cultures have influenced you?
Generally Punk, Oi punk especially.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Club Doctor in Ogikubo. It’s a tiny club.
If you could be on the line up with any person or band in history, who would it be?
I can think of few foreign musicians I want to play with, but the person I most would like to be with is Tetsuro Tamba. I want him to sit on a sofa next to me whilst I’m singing and playing the guitar. That would be great!
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history, who would it be?
One hour is too short. But if I could I would be with Tetsuro Tamba, I would like to talk with him about the spiritual world and ask him the reason why he made the movie 'Daireikai'.
Who is your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Yoshinari Fukushima from the group called Gariitochu and Habuservice.
How did you select the tracks for this playlist?
I made the playlist based on 'The Power Of Love' which is the theme song for 'Back to the Future'. It’s the only foreign movie I have ever seen. Then followed by songs by a Japanese artist called Sion. Sion has a rough voice, and I made endless loop like jumping in a hot bath, then into a cold bath and this continues.
What was the first track you played on repeat?
The song I listened to so many times when I was a kid was Koujiro Shimizu’s 'Love Ballad wa utaenai' It’s the theme song to a movie 'Be-Bop High school' the only Japanese movie I have ever seen.
What is the song that defines your teens?
Be-Bop chorus’s 'Be-Bop Paradise'.
What is one record you would keep forever?
An Album by Ami Suzuki which has the song 'Be Together' in it. (FUN for FAN). It’s one of my favourite songs!
What song lyrics have inspired you?
Bakufu-Slump’s 'Gekkou (Moonlight)'.
What is the best song to turn up loud?
Takashi Sorimachi’s 'Poison'. The theme song of the drama 'GTO'.
What song do you like that people wouldn’t expect you to like?
I like Naoko Ken. Because many of her songs like 'Kamomewakamome' and 'LA-LA-LA' are written by Miyuki Nakajima.
Are there any new bands you are listening to now?
The Interrupters - a band that blends Ska and Oi from Hellcat Records. It is a great one to listen to.
