The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever - Remastered 2009

It's on. At one point I didn't think that this song actually existed because my travel companion said there's no such song by The Beatles.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

The Beatles - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

I love hippies as a subculture and psychedelic rock recorded at Abbey Road Studios. I lived in London for 6 years and have never been there. In August 2019 in t-shirt by Kickers Futsal I cycled to the Notting Hill Carnival. I saw a yellow bus with a sign 'Living the dream'.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water - Remastered 2012

The gig was in London. It was great to see Deep Purple because they are old rockers and it might have been the last chance for me to catch them live. I arrived in Birmingham by train, Professor Palan was on that train too.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Rolling Stones - Monkey Man

It's not on rotation in the student nightclubs. It's riffs move me and I start shaking to the rhythm.

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Nucleya - Bacardi Drop

Nucleya has created a very original sound by mixing traditional Indian ethnic folk motives and computer generated sounds. He was the first musician from India to be able to headline contemporary music festivals.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

The Zombies - Care Of Cell 44

In my flat there's fatman lamp amplifier and I usually with M-Audio monitors. Very clear loud sound. It's a feel good song, a little melancholic explores the theme of belonging. There are numerous lessons in that period that Gen Y needs to learn.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Grateful Dead - Scarlet Begonias - 2013 Remaster

It has a cover by Sublime. It was in the (TV Show) 'Freaks and Geeks' by Apatow starring Franco, Rogen, Starr, Segel. First I heard the song in the show and it taught me about the counterculture. This knowledge puts my teenage years in context.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Pink Floyd - Jugband Blues - 2011 Remastered Version

Syd Barrett was a '60s rock n roll icon and the song was recorded at Abbey Road Studios. I think his existential poetry is clicking with Omar Khayyam's sufism. I love Thorgerson's album artwork too, he had an exhibition at the V&A a few years ago.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Barclay James Harvest - Early Morning - A-Side Single 1968

I had an all nighter in university a couple of times, I edited a film for Sonos Studios and London Live over night, but I'll never do it again. All nighters don't make you productive and finishing uni essays at night is a bad habit. That's it.
