Describe your style in three words?
Dress to impress.
The first track you played on repeat?
Jamiroquai - Canned Heat
As a kid, I had a bit of an obsession with Jamiroquai. Five-year-old me used to recreate jumping off the walls like Jay Kay in my cherry red Adidas Berlin OGs whilst watching the music channels.
A song from your favorite album?
Radiohead - Reckoner
I could pick any Radiohead album and any Radiohead song but 'Reckoner' from 'In Rainbows' holds a special place in my heart. It’s the first song I heard from them and it stood out with that John Frusciante-esque riff in Thom Yorke’s ‘can’t-really-pick’ kind of way.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Enola Gay - Sofa Surfing
The 100 Club was the venue, and All Our Tomorrows was the gig. After hearing the sets rampant baselines, I had ringing in my ears for the next week, however, it was worth the pain.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - The Night
I first heard this song at my first Northern Soul night at The Lanes in Bristol in my first year at university. The buzz in the room changed when this song hit the turntable. I am always on the dance floor before the snare kicks in, even if the dance floor is my kitchen.
A new song you're listening to?
Squid - Pamphlets
I had heard of Squid for a while and had heard bits here and there. Fast forward to Latitude Festival 2021 where I was genuinely surprised that I had heard one of the best performances I have ever seen from a band with incredible chemistry.
Best song to turn up loud?
Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road
Once I got past the sold-out stadiums and 'Born In the USA', I was blown away. This song is my go-to karaoke song and it is essential to turn up the volume to the max.
A song that defines the teenage you?
Maximo Park - Apply Some Pressure
I was always influenced by my brother's taste in music and his teenage years were filled with all the great indie bands breaking through. When it came to mine I had just missed the height of the indie scene but bands such as Maximo Park kept that scene alive.
An anthemic song?
The Beatles - All You Need Is Love - Remastered 2009
20,000 people including me saw Noel Gallagher bring out Weller to perform this song at The Downs Festival in Bristol. I don’t think there was a person in the crowd not singing along and well… that defines an anthem really.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Far from Me - 2011 Remastered Version
Aaaaand breeeeeaaaaathe. One of the most beautiful songs ever.
