03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Today's mood is...

The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Madness - Our House

When I was a kid my Gran was the only person with a record player, so she bought me this on 7 inch. My little sister had this toy that looked a bit like a trumpet and I would just jump all over my Gran's sofa playing air trumpet to this over and over until I drove everyone crazy.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Stereophonics - Goldfish Bowl

You know when your flicking through your collection and you just go "YES I'm putting that on again!". That's this album for me. Picked this song because most of the album is quite punchy and then there's this nice little number. It's quite uncanny how alike our voices are.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down

These guys came on the scene like an absolute rocket! October 2005, The Astoria (RIP). They started to play this this and were drowned out by the crowd singing back every word. Then 1 minute in the place just went bananas! I'm getting goosebumps now just reminiscing!

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Michael Jackson - P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)

If you don't get up and dance there's something wrong with you. There were so many hits from the 'Thriller' album it's incredible, but this was my favorite. It's a perfect mix of funk with Michael's amazing vocals. It's a hip shaker and hand clapper!

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Working Men's Club - Bad Blood

I literally cannot sit or stand still when I hear this song! There's something very Joy Division about it. Top tune. Get it in your ear holes. Looking forward to see what their first album offers.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Six Barrel Shotgun

This one is great for the car. I travel a lot for work so it's important to have your music sorted. Get on the motorway and crank this one up! Excellent for a bit of air guitar as well (not while driving!).

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Stone Roses - She Bangs the Drums - Remastered

The summer of '89. This whole album was the soundtrack to teenage me and it was really hard to pick one from it. Even when I listen to this now it instantly takes me pack to summer down the park, big group of mates, drinking cider and The Roses blaring from a stereo.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

The Strokes - Last Nite

It's just one of those songs that lifts everybody once it comes on. Get's the same reaction now as it did nearly 20 years ago. Best listened to in the middle of a crowd at a festival.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Fleetwood Mac - Albatross

It's dreamy.
