Name, where are you from?
Daland. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I moved to London when I was 17, I think of London as my home and shelter.
Describe your style in three words?
Sonic, loud and unique.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Queens of the Stone Age at Finsbury Park. It’s the best live sounding band and they have a good frontman.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Oasis and The Sex Pistols. It would be a gig for a million people and I feel like more than a million people need to understand, that Sex Pistols are the most influential band in Morden pop culture. Oasis because we all love them.
Which Subcultures have influenced you?
Mod and rocker. As Ringo Star once said I’m a Mocker. Growing up as a kid I had some health issues and bands like the Small Faces, The Kinks, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley helped me through it all. Also after watching the film Quadrophenia, I became completely obsessed with the aesthetic on both sides, mods and rockers. Watching it used to give me a shot of adrenaline and I was too young to get it from anywhere else.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
David Bowie, he is the most amazing person in the world. Also, I think I could learn a thing or two.
Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
The Hawley Arms, Camden I used to work there and they always treat everyone as family. Coming from another country that’s exactly what I needed for my rock and roll.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Richard Ashcroft I know he is big but I think everything he does is genius and he needs more recognition.
Lion Machine 23. A north London rock and roll band, with influences from the likes of David Bowie to the Sex Pistols. Creating a sound of melodic distortion with rave elements. Lion Machine 23’s songs are written and produced by their frontman Daland. Their debut EP Get Smash or Die Trying is out now.

The first track you played on repeat?
'Ticket to Ride' by the Beatles. My dad was getting rid of some records and I heard 'Ticket to Ride' for the first time I was 4. From that point, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and how my songwriting would go.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Bodies' by The Sex Pistols. I was an angry young man and I used to identify myself with Johnny Rotten a lot.
One record you would keep forever?
'Days to Come' by Bonobo. Because blossoms the day to come.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Rape Me' by Nirvana. I liked Kurt’s cynicism and the way he ended up being so controversial on a lyric he probably wasn’t being so serious about. And as Jinkx Monsoon (my favourite drag queen) says I take comedy very serious.
A song you wished you had written?
'Army of Me' by Bjork. It’s just a great song, every time I listen I just feel jealous.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Get Free' by The Vines. It’s a banger, even more when you turn it up, I also feel Craig Nichols deserves more recognition as a hitmaker.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Hit Me Baby One More Time' by Britney Spears. Because of the intro, that piano intro is lethal.
The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor' by Arctic Monkeys. Normally for me, the dance floor should be Chic or The Bee Gees but Alex Turner did a better job.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'My Generation' by The Who. We would of started the night with that tune and end the night with it. And probably start the next day with it again.
Any new bands you are into at the moment?
'Invisible Sun' by Liam Gallagher. It just has that Stone Roses vibe that I’m craving everyday. No one can touch him, when he sings like that.
