A Metzdubz Photo
Name, what do you do?
I go by metzdub. I am a DJ, a member of Dubyouth and also a BnB owner.
Describe your style in three words?
Preppy, flexy, comfy.
What does the Fred Perry Shirt mean to you?
I liked the music from subculture things, then I dug more about the way they dressed. And Fred Perry fits in it.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Metallica in Jakarta 2013.
If you could put any three bands in history on a lineup?
Daft Punk, The Clash, Bob Marley and The Wailers.
Another you? Any other career that would have appealed?
Accountant.
One record you would keep forever?
'Checked Your Head' by Beastie Boys - got Mike D’s autograph when he visited Jogja.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Élysée Montmartre Paris 2011.
If you can make a record with anyone from history?
Lee Perry, His mind is a mystery... beyond. Pioneer of reggae dub. He experimented with many things. Like there is no limit to exploring the sound.
A song you wished you had written?
'God Save The Queen' by Sex Pistols.
'Lovely Day' by Bill Withers.
This one is my all-time favourite mood elevator.
'Dreadlock Holiday' by 10cc.
Open my window, fresh air comes, this beat makes my foot start to dance.
'Sunny' by Bobby Hebb.
You're my sweet complete desire.
'The Tide Is High' by The Paragons.
Optimistic.
'Harvest Moon' by Neil Young.
My melancholy tune.
'Only You' by Lord Echo, Toby Laing.
Love the intro, feels like riding.
'The Come Back' by PillowTalk.
Simple bass pattern but cool.
'Walk On The Wild Side' by Lou Reed.
Part "Doo, doo-doo" follow us to sing along.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.
All-time favourite.
'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen.
The song teaches us, it is a refrain worthy of times of celebration, of mourning, of regret, of catharsis, and reconciliation.
'Rudie Can’t Fail' by The Clash.
A celebration of rude boy culture.
'Ruby Soho' by Rancid.
Tim Amstrong soulful voice, best mix of reggae and punk.
