Musician — London
A Osquello Photo
My names Osquello and I’m from North London, Finchley.
Careless, blue, '90s king.
In terms of music and visually - Flying Lotus' 3D experience live at 02 Brixton is some of the craziest sh*t I’ve seen. A real innovator but my favourite gig was watching Odd Future at the 02 Forum in 2014. It just felt like the most connected show. No one can control a crowd like Tyler and co. Still, to this day, I ain’t been in an environment where I can mosh and then sing along to slower love songs.
Probably Amy Winehouse and Kevin Abstract. Amy because she’s the queen and a true pioneer in the soul world, watching her perform after me would be too surreal. Kevin because I’ve watched him come up from when he released his first song and I just love seeing the progression and all the energy. Would be an inspiring night.
I’ve been influenced by the hip hop community a lot I guess but I don’t really think that’s much of a thing anymore. In London now, everyone comes together and so I think through that process, I haven’t really been influenced by set beliefs and what not because I just feel open enough to accept and look into all of them equally.
Probably Stevie Wonder or Tyler The Creator. Stevie because he’s just done so much for the music world without having much himself, I could learn a lot from him. Tyler probably because I’ll always be stuck in my Odd Future fanboy days ahaha.
Omeara and The Jazz Cafe were the best venues I played in terms of sound, speakers were perfect and made my voice sound like a flipping angel. In terms of vibes the 02 Forum and MFHDN in Los Angeles because I never had that type of support in my life, from so many people that don’t even know what my music is yet they enjoyed it more than the headline. Will always cherish those experiences.
I’d say my hero at the moment is LCYTN. She does everything herself production, singing DJ and we need more people like that. Not to mention books her own shows and has the perfect theme to all of her music. Very talented soul.
Effortlessly shifting between singing and rapping, Osquello is a North London musician and producer with laid-back vibes incorporating elements of jazz, soul, indie and hip-hop into his music.
Osquello will be performing on Saturday at this years festival. Alongside Black Country, New Road, Pardans, Jerskin Fendrix, Great Dad, Platonica Erotica, Taylor Skye, Lealani and Brother May.
'Sweet Disposition' by The Temper Trap
'Sandwitches' by Tyler The Creator.
'Graduation' by Kanye West.
"Man life can get all up in your ass baby you betta work it out,
Let me tell you what it's all about,
A skin not considered equal,
A meteor has more right than my people,
Who be wastin' time screaming who they've hated,
That's why the Native Tongues have officially been re-instated."
From 'Stakes Is High' by De La Soul.
'At All' by kaytranada.
'Czech One' by King Krule.
'Here Comes Everybody' by Autolux.
'Gold Coast' by Violent Soho.
'REMember' by Mac Miller.
