Describe your style in three words?
Timeless, Classic and Clean.
The first track you played on repeat?
The Distillers - City Of Angels
Whilst the schoolgirls were Blazing Squad fans, me and my walkman were heavily involved in this track. My first experience of a strong female lead and a raspy vocal line. Incredible, fast-paced music with a serious edge. Love it!
A song from your favorite album?
Deftones - Digital Bath
As a drummer, the sound and tonality of the drums in this track, and the musicality seriously impress me. Chino's vocal line is as always atmospheric. I love the build-up of this song and how solid it is. That snare drum just sounds, to me, perfect.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Capdown - Kained but Able
14 years old and one of my first ever gigs. Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth is a small venue packed with sweaty older punks. It was just an amazing mix of mosh-pits and crowd surfing. They opened with this track and the power behind it is something I will never forget.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
The Specials - Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think)
This was something that was always playing in our house growing up. Doing the dishes, hoovering, having a knees-up on a Saturday night. I love The Specials in general (how could you not right?). A great uplifting song to bop along to at any time, brilliant.
A new song you're listening to?
Rina Sawayama - STFU!
Rina is an incredible new artist, for a pop artist to write an alternative is cool in my opinion. This track is about unintelligent racist comments, I can relate. There is an excellent scream vocal towards the end which slots in very nicely with, genius.
Best song to turn up loud?
The Selecter - On my Radio
Turn this song up!!! I can't listen to this song without moving. In a way, I really idolise Pauline Black. As a black woman, fronting up a band I have the utmost respect for her. Great track for all, on any occasion, at any time.
A song that defines the teenage you?
blink-182 - Feeling This
This song takes me back to teenage house parties with all the pop-punk lads and emo girls, being a carefree teenager. Blink-182 are all about eternal youth, and when I put this on I feel that way. It is Blink 182!!!! It is pop-punk, it is all about having FUN.
An anthemic song?
Toots & The Maytals - Country Road
Toots Hibbert, what an incredible musician. There is so much feel and soul in this track, you can still bop to it. When the chorus kicks in it makes me feel unified and always makes me smile, lovely song.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Madness - It Must Be Love
I absolutely love this band, this song reminds me of my family. I first heard it as a teenager and it never gets old. A timeless classic and a wonderful love song, Madness style. The brass really makes this song for me, fantastic band and a great way to round off and evening.
