DJ / Public Relations — Madrid
A Álvaro Naive Photo
Name, where are you from?
Álvaro Naive. I’m from Madrid, Spain, Europe, World.
What do you do?
DJ and Public Relations.
Describe your style in three words?
Sailor, Worker and Scruffy.
What's the best gig you’ve ever been to?
My top five for sure have Been David Byrne at Madrid, Madness at Murcia SOS Festival, Grace Jones at Primavera Sound Barcelona, The Libertines at Hyde Park London and The Cure at Madrid.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
A dream Line up would be The Beatles and Nirvana.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I guess I have been influenced by several styles in music as in fashion, New wave, brit pop, rude boys, punk... Even, although being the antithesis, mods and rockers. These subcultures are loaded with anger and attitude giving a purpose to their style.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
With Cleopatra… If I had only one hour with her, the only thing I would do is ask her to marry me.
Of all the independent venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
I’ve been terribly lucky to play in amazing venues with my ex-band Trajano! But playing at Joy Eslava Theatre in Madrid was really special. An endless list of my favourite bands has played there. It was an amazing theatre with an amazing sound which sadly recently closed down.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
David Bowie as obvious as It might sound! He was a hero “for more than one day” his music contributed to make a better world. If God exists is David.
The first track you played on repeat?
'American Idiot' by Green Day.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'F*ck Forever' by Babyshambles.
One record you would keep forever?
'Up The Bracket' by The Libertines.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
“Every paper that you read says tomorrow is your lucky day/ Well, here’s your lucky day”
From 'The Universal' by Blur.
A song you wished you had written?
'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' by The Smiths.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Should I Stay or Should I Go' by The Clash.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Ahora Te Puedes Marchar' by Luis Miguel.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'I Feel Love' by Donna Summer.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Loaded' by Primal Scream.
Any new bands you are into at the moment?
Lately, I'm hooked to electronic music most of it French like Gaspard Augé, Yuksek, Polo & Pan.
