Name, where are you from?
Declan Higgins, Crewe.
What do you do?
I make films at i-D Magazine and spend time with my friends.
Describe your style in three words:
Lost and found.
Which music defines the teenage you?
Late indie, sadly it’s a Babyshambles indie whilst yearning for Libertines as I was slightly too young. Indie was fantastic though and really encouraged grass-roots creativity.
A British icon or band who inspire your sound?
The honesty and working class ethics of Manchester United have inspired my taste / sound more than anything.

‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ by Queen.
A song from your favourite album?
‘Stranger In Moscow’ from the HIStory album, Michael Jackson.
A song you wish you’d written?
‘Living On A Thin Line’ by The Kinks.
What is the last piece of music you bought?
I bought ‘All That You Dream’ by Little Feat recently because I couldn’t stream it where I was and it reminds me of someone I love.
Most meaningful lyrics to inspire change?
Coming up with new ones to keep things changing. If I had to answer sensibly it would be ‘All You Need Is Love’ by The Beatles.
Best song to bring people together?
Weirdly it’s probably the national anthem or ‘Oh Jeremy Corbyn’.
What has been your all-time favourite gig?
Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock or Daft Punk Coachella but sadly I didn’t make either.
Best love song of all time?
Easy. Chris Issac – ‘Wicked Games’.
Is there a song you like that people wouldn’t expect?
I love the Brian and Michael song, ‘Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs’. It’s a song about the painter L.S. Lowry. I came across it years ago whilst listening to Status Quo – ‘Pictures of Matchstick Men’ which is one of my favourite songs.
