A Hamish Photo
Describe your style in three words?
Classic yet unique.
The first track you played on repeat?
Blur - Tender
I’m not too sure what it is with this song, I don’t ever remember not knowing the words. The artwork reminded me of one of my Dad's paintings and I used to pick it when it was my turn to choose music as a child.
A song from your favorite album?
Fugees - Fu-Gee-La
This has to be my favourite albums of all time, I love it because it tells a story from start to finish. It’s one of those when listening to one or two tracks isolated from the rest almost lose their context. That’s everything I want in an album, to be taken on a journey.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Shortparis - Страшно
It was at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. We were all knackered and could be bothered going out again. My friend Niall was like “Nah, you have to see this band” they played at 3am in a venue I can’t remember the name of and I was in awe for the full set.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
The Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way - 12" Mega Mixes
I just love Jimmy Somerville.
A new song you're listening to?
Fontaines D.C. - A Hero's Death - Soulwax Remix
An amazing tune made even better by these musical magicians. They could literally take any song in the world and make it sound better.
Best song to turn up loud?
D:Ream - Things Can Only Get Better - D:Reamix Edit
Suuuuuper cheese. Though this song gives me a smile every day in lockdown. Things CAN only get better. Yessssa.
A song that defines the teenage you?
Jamie T - The Man's Machine - Single Edit
Jamie T was my most played artist of the decade on Spotify. He’s someone that has stuck with me since my formative years.
An anthemic song?
White Lies - Death
I can’t help but scream these lyrics and every time it’s played.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Dean Martin - My Rifle, My Pony And Me - Remastered
I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve laid on the floor with my friends at whatever time in the morning, smoking our last cigarette and belting this out.
