More than this
I remember going through my Dad's vinyl collection as a kid, and being strangely fascinated by the Velvet Underground and Nico's haunting voice. Did not know back then that this song was about a drug dealer.
Hard to pick one favourite album, but Sade’s "Diamond Life" is definitely one of my favourites. It's so intelligent, complex, hypnotizing. all songs work perfectly alone make even more sense in the context of the album. And the lyrics are timeless and empowering.
With one of my former bands, we played in 2012 at a festival in a rundown factory building near Munich, Lunastrom. The atmosphere in this building was magical, and then we played in the line up before Mark Gardener. This felt surreal, as RIDE was such a big inspiration for me.
You hear the first notes of this song and you are instantly hooked. Love the melody and how it evokes somehow happiness but also nostalgia.
Munich's finest.
A classic.
Thanks to my friend Eva who always provided me with USB sticks full of great music and smuggled me into shoegaze and indie nights.
This song is so big, I always want to cry when I listen to it. Its density increases so slowly and it gets so big in the end!
Makes you wanna fly to the moon.
