A Craig Costello Photo
Name, where are you from?
Craig, I’m from Queens, NY.
What do you do?
Creative projects. Dad projects.
Describe your style in three words?
New York City. Bold as love.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Very tough question as there are so many different vibes...
Nas @ Alife Sessions, simply amazing, small venue, Nas in the middle of the crowd, standing on a milk crate, killing it.
I saw Bono and Edge play an acoustic 'Bloody Sunday' in JR's living room, amazing.
The Bad Brains in the '80s out in Long Island somewhere, amazing.
KRS early '90s, epic.
Fugazi in a cafeteria uptown for their first album, amazing new sounds.
If you could put any three bands in history on a lineup?
Again, this is tricky as I’m into so many genres. It's a bit dizzying to think about...
Jimi Hendrix, New Order and Black Sabbath. I’m not a concert promoter.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Graffiti, contemporary art.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
My ancestors.
What is your favourite live music venue in New York?
Honestly, it's rare for me to catch a live show these days. I prefer small venues.
A song that defines the teenage you?
This is very difficult as so many changes happen.
'Push' by The Cure.
'Paid In Full' by Eric B & Rakim.
'Sailin' On' by Bad Brains.
One record you would keep forever?
'Power, Corruption and Lies' by New Order.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
"That buck that bought the bottle, coulda struck the lotto."
From 'Life's A B*tch' by Nas.
A song you wished you had written?
'Revolution' by The Beatles.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Losing My Edge' by LCD Soundsystem.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Long Time' by Boston.
'Johnny and Mary' by Robert Palmer.
'Changes' by Antonio Williams.
Any new bands you’re into at the moment?
'A Different Arrangement' & 'Weight Against The Door' by Black Marble.
'Yr Body Is Nothing' by Boy Harsher.
