03Interview

Name, where are you from?
Jack Looker - from the band DITZ, from Brighton.

Describe your style in three words?
The Breakfast Club (with early 2000’s emo overtones).

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Pixies at Manchester Apollo in 2013. They played an onslaught of something like 39 songs, loud as anything straight through with not one word said in between.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
The Streets, & Beastie Boys!

Which subcultures have influenced you?
The aggro of Punk/New Wave and Grime are two big ones. It’s got something to do with the narrative of a lot of those artists and DIY nature of both of the genre's beginnings.

Another one, all be it broad, would be Metal. It’d be safe to say we take a few of influences from bands like Sabbath to the more modern sub genre’s/offshoots with bands like Limp Bizkit and Locust.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Definitely V11 in Rotterdam, we played it as a part of Left of the Dial Festival in October this year. The venue itself is set in the lower deck of a docked boat and the upper deck is a restaurant. We became pretty unpopular with the people eating food when Cal decided to get everyone to run from one side of the boat to the other and for most of the set people were going mental.
In the UK it’d be Wharf Chambers in Leeds. Purely for the fact that the beers are cheap, the foods amazing, and everyone involved is spot on.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Kramerdoingbits.

DITZ recently signed to Alcopop! Records and released their new single 'Total 90' in early November. You can listen, purchase or stream it via backl.ink/81885076.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'I’d Like to Know' by Supergrass.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Magick' by Klaxons.

One record you would keep forever?
'Tilt' by Scott Walker.

The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'A Little Respect' by Erasure.

A song you wished you had written?
'Raining Blood' by Slayer.

Best song to turn up loud?
'Fucking Butter' by Girl Band.

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'A Little Respect' by Erasure.

Best song to end an all-nighter on?
