A Keigo Julian Fukugaki Photo
Name, where are you from?
Keigo Julian Fukugaki, Tokyo, Los Angeles, San Francisco.
What do you do?
Co-Founder / Creative Director.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Hard to say what was the BEST, but when I attended my first music festival, I was 16 at the time. I saw the Chemical Brothers at Coachella in 2001, they played the track 'Welcome to Africa'. To this day, it was the loudest gig I’ve ever been to, and the most hypnotic visuals.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I’ve been heavily influenced by the electronic music scenes, such as minimal techno or house music that have made who I am today. I’m also following a lot of DJs and producers based in the UK.
Of all the venues you’ve been, which is your favourite?
I think Labyrinth Festival in Japan is the best electronic music experience.
If you could be on the line up with any bands in history?
Never thought about this, but I’d say David Bowie in the '80s.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
It’d be a close call between David Bowie, Thom Yorke, Richard David James.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Really excited and inspired by the work by Max Cooper.
The first track you played on repeat?
Can’t recall if it was the first track, but I definitely played tracks from artists like Underworld, Orbital, Hybrid. I was just getting into electronic music and I would spend all night downloading mp3s with my best friend.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Born Slippy' by Underworld.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Waves' by Max Cooper on his 'Emergence' album was an inspiration during 2019.
Best song to turn up loud?
'When I’m Sixty Four' by The Beatles.
New bands you are listening to now?
Rival Consoles.
