A Len Photo
Name, where are you from?
Len, Stockwell, South West London.
Describe your style in three words?
Sexy, spontaneous, swag.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
ALT-Ldn, 2021. Sam Wise’s set was incredible, I’ve never seen the whole flame ting they do at shows in real life. He had the whole crowd in his pocket. Playboi Carti’s set was so beautiful that my friend even teared up. I had to save her in the moshpit a couple of times. Yachty went crazy as well, crazy day.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Burna Boy, I think his energy is mental. It’s as if he’s in his own world and you’re just there. I love that. And Kanye West, I love his stage presence and his stage design. It would just be beautiful to see any of that.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I don’t know what I’d call it, but whatever Section Boyz were dropping in their early days. Some call it grime or drill. But that swag they were handing out back in the day influenced more than just me. Influenced the whole country, we don’t talk about it enough.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Gordon Ramsay. I wanna know if he really hot-headed or if he just mad passionate about food or if it’s all a facade. I also want to know how to properly make scallops because it seems everyone gets 'em wrong.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
The Underground. On Nov 27th it was hosted by IAMNEXT. I don't know, that one just felt spiritual, I felt like I coulda performed for three hours if he let me. It was two days after my bday as well. The crowd loved me and they sang 'Happy Birthday' to me.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Swift from Section Boyz/Smoke Boys. The lingo, the flows, the cadence, the vocal experimentation. All things that I still see people run with to this day, he’s defo got an influence on my music.
Len recently released his new single 'BRAND NEW BIH', the second track to be taken from his upcoming mixtape 'Dead End'. Listen, purchase or stream it via bfan.link/brand-new-bih.
Len will also be supporting Knucks on tour in May 2022, for detail follow Len on Instagram at @scenesoflen.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Why You Do That' by Max B.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Top' by Lil Uzi Vert.
One record you would keep forever?
'808s & Heartbreak' by Kanye West.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
"Gotta keep my focus, I’m phenomenal"
From 'Inside The Mattress' by Future. It reminds me that whenever things get blurry that I’m still phenomenal.
"I go make another hit and then go buy another wraith"
From 'No Charge' by Future. It made me deep that rah, this will be my life.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Coke' by Skilibeng.
A song you wished you had written?
'Love T.K.O.' by Teddy Pendergrass.
Best song to turn up loud?
'20Floors' by Aonenine (ft. Len).
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Stargazing' by The Neighbourhood.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Astrothunder' by Travis Scott.
Any new artists you are listening to right now?
Fred Jones, song I’d recommend is called 'Madea'.
