DJ / Producer — Hamburg
A Lenny Bunsen Photo
Name, where are you from?
Lenny, from Hamburg.
What do you do?
DJ, Producer, Label manager. Everything that has to do with music.
Describe your style in three words?
Rough, obscure, everything but boring.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Tool at Rock am Ring.
If you could be on the line up with any three bands in history?
Héctor Oaks, Len Faki and Inhalt der Nacht. All three play techno, each of them in their own way which makes them very special for me. No matter where I was, I always had a good time when they played.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
It's hard for me to define, for sure the skate scene had an influence on me when I was younger. But in general, I liked to hang out with people who were interested in music. No matter if it was hip hop, techno or rock. My first circle of friends with whom I actively attended events was very much in the hardcore/gabber scene.
Of all the independent venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
Pal if it's Kinky Sundays. Probably the best party you can attend in Hamburg. Especially when the attic is open. Good people, good music and Sunday is my favourite day to party. For me, it's the place and the party where you can experience a part of Hamburg's subculture.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Maynard James Keenan, especially with the bands Tool and A Perfect Circle. Many people will probably know him, but unfortunately, I have not been able to convince many of my friends of him. Especially the visuals for the Tool tracks were ahead of their time.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Try Honesty' by Billy Talent.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'BDE Bonus' by Mac Miller.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
“I never take a day off Work around the clock, my engineer gettin' paid off”
From 'Best Day Ever' by Mac Miller.
Best song to turn up loud?
'El Diablo' by Fuego.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'I'm This' by Peter Cat Recordings Co.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'My Pain (The Hacker Remix)' by Northern Lite.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'In Private' by Dusty Springfield.
