A L'objectif Photo
Name, where are you from?
L’objectif, Leeds.
Describe your style in three words?
Smart, oversized, vintage.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
David Byrne at Leeds Arena. It was like I was watching a play, just an incredible performance.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
The Stone Roses would be one. The crowd would be amazing, energy and passion. Gorillaz as well, their live shows look unreal.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
I wouldn’t say the band specifically fits into a specific subculture. For example, we are inspired by many, including hip-hop, punk, grunge and shoegaze. I wouldn’t want to claim we are solely part of one or fully fit into one.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
David Bowie. He would have wise words of advice I can imagine from an artists perspective. Also, it's David Bowie.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Brudenell Social Club, Leeds. Best venue we’ve been to for sure, so so cool, a lot of our musical memories started from there and our desire to be on stage.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Television, an extremely influential band on guitar music. Deserve more attention for sure.
L'objectif recently released their new single 'Drive In Mind'. Listen, purchase or stream it via lobjectif.ffm.to/driveinmind.
The first track you played on repeat?
'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' by The Smiths.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'All My Friends' by LCD Soundsystem.
One record you would keep forever?
'Doolittle' by The Pixies - the first vinyl Ezra (bassist) ever bought.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
"Soundtracked by a chorus of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’"
From 'American Sports' by Arctic Monkeys.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Rapp Snitch Knishes' by MF DOOM.
A song you wished you had written?
'After Hours' by The Velvet Underground.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Devil In A New Dress' by Kanye West.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Symphony 101 in D Major, The Clock' by Franz Joseph Haydn.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'I'm Glad' by Captain Beefheart.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
'G-E-T-O-U-T!! The Ghetto' by Standing On The Corner.
'Nostalgic Montag' by Salami Rose Joe Louis.
'Will to Power' by N0V3L.
'Storm' by Rare Silk.
