03Interview

Describe your style in three words?

Unique, antique, freak.

The first track you played on repeat?

Michael Jackson - Leave Me Alone - 2012 Remaster

I was MJ obsessed as a kid, spent many days dressing up like him/learning dance routines to his songs. My dad taped Moonwalker for me from when it was on TV one night and I watched that badboy to death. The video for this is in the film and I loved both the visuals and the song.

A song from your favorite album?

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Breaking the Girl

I got this album for Christmas when I was around 9 years old (deffo way too young to be learning all the taboo lyrics!) I know it front to back. This song struck me even then and as I grew up, I related to the lyrics more and more. It's beautiful and comforting yet melancholy.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Roy Ayers - Searching

I've listened to it since I was a kid as my dad and particularly my mum, loves Roy Ayers. I saw him in Nottingham around 6 years ago with one of my best mates. He came out in slippers and I was very elated for the entirety of the gig hahaha.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Clash - The Magnificent Seven - Remastered

Listen to it everywhere. I loveee The Clash and would dance anywhere i hear this!

A new song you're listening to?

The Gun Club - Idiot Waltz

Not 'new' as such but new to me. The Gun Club are one of my fave bands and not sure how this one slipped through the net, but I've had it on repeat for a month or two now and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

Best song to turn up loud?

Adolescents - Kids of the Black Hole

Everywhere!!! Love this song, love The Adolescents and a lot of the '80s LA Punk bands. This whole album and Agent Orange's 'Living in Darkness' album are always in rotation.

A song that defines the teenage you?

Mosca - Bax

Sneaking into Stealth with a bad fake ID, this was played quite often. My older brother played it a lot too and this was deffo a gateway for me getting sucked heavily into Electronic music.

An anthemic song?

Talk Talk - It's My Life - 1997 Remaster

Absolute banger, No Doubt version slaps too. But this is a karaoke staple.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

Rod Stewart - Do Ya Think I'm Sexy

Wherever, whenever. Always goes down a treat. It was a toss up between this or 'Gold' by Spandau Ballet.
