Sporty, unconventional, minimalist.

Tory Lanez - LUV

First week of living at university, we threw a huge house party with all of our flatmates. It brings back memories of living away from home for the first time and the powerful realisation that comes with such a big move from adolescence to adulthood.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Glass Animals - Gooey

First British band who introduced me to a mix between psychedelia and indie rock. I followed them when they’d just started out, and were hugely under the radar. Their music genre is almost entirely unique which appeals to some, and doesn’t to others.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Glass Animals - Pools

The first band I ever saw live in an intimate venue in central London. The gig itself was very low-key, and the artists ensured every single member of the audience was involved with their set. Every single one of us was captivated in the essence of their music.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

CamelPhat - Cola

A world renowned house tune recognised anywhere and everywhere. Whether it’s played in a car, in the gym or in the club!

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Doja Cat - Say So

She celebrates being unconventional and wears the title with pride. She doesn’t hide behind the stereotypical convention of sexuality in women but rather celebrates everything that being a woman entails.

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Au/Ra - Panic Room - Club Mix

The lyrics surround the concept of living in a society dominated by the anxieties of an ever-changing social and digital climate. The entire song itself serves as a metaphor for the claustrophobic nature of social worries and anxieties in general.

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

Kanye West - All Of The Lights

Reminds me of when I was studying in high school for my end of year exams - music was a huge stress outlet for me whenever I got distracted or overwhelmed with studying. I remember thinking this collaboration was one of the best of its genre at the time.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Samm Henshaw - Church (feat. EARTHGANG)

It emanates a powerful spiritual nature to music. It’s very much gospel-like in its message, alluding to present-day imagery of youth and correlating it with religious undertones. Religious or not, the song defies boundaries and doesn’t conform to any audience.

Best song to end an all-nighter?

LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends

Nine times out of then, you’ll never be going through an all-nighter yourself. This song is widely recognised and definitely encourages a community approach to whatever all-nighter you’d be tackling - whether it’s studying-related or just a big night out with friends!
