Casual, British and street-based.

The Smiths - Sweet and Tender Hooligan - John Peel Session, 12/2/86

I've first played it when I was 12. I was really interested in British underground "football casual" and hooliganism scene in those days. One day when I was visiting a record store in Kadıköy, I came across with the vinyl of it.The lyrics of the song definitely define teenage me.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Joy Division - Decades - 2007 Remaster

I am always into the britpop and British post-punk scene. I am also listening the new wave and punk genre. I've first heard 'Decades' in one of my favorite movies 'Awaydays'. The movie is all about British street/music culture and the album 'Closer' is an all time classic.

A song from your most memorable gig?

Oasis - Cigarettes & Alcohol

It was in İstanbul, 2018. When Liam Gallagher said the lyric "All I need is cigarettes and alcohol" I was smoking and drinking at that very moment and I thought it was an unforgettable coincidence!

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

The Clash - London Calling - Remastered

Actually, it was simple. Whenever it plays, London calling to the underworld! And I was there too...

A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?

Alvvays - Adult Diversion

Actually, the song can not be accepted as "new" because it was first released in 2013. I've just discovered it. But both the band, Alvvays, and the vocals are so powerful. Strong Joy Division influence with a hint of The Smiths. I like it!

Best song to turn up loud? And why?

Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence

I was first listened to it when I was inside my silent room. I was "enjoying the silence" but after I listened the song, the situation turned just the opposite! The song's name is ironic because it is so alive and kicking!

A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?

The Smiths - Never Had No One Ever - 2011 Remaster

There are lots of different songs and also bands that define my teenage years. The Smiths is a classic. So strict! It can be also The Cure, Blur or The Stone Roses but the lyrics of the song "Never Had No One Ever" really define those young years.

An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?

Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen

If I need to say one "anthemic song" that covers all the underground/street movements in Britain and defines the ruthlessness and bleak mood in the England, it is always "God Save the Queen". Too much punk and harshness. Tough and sarcastic in one other way!

Best song to end an all-nighter?

The Cure - The Funeral Party

Through the end one of the big nights, you will only need a funeral, of course... Here is "The Funeral Party" by The Cure. Slow, painless, drowsy and exhausted. The band, Suede, could also be a good alternative.
