A Brooke Combe Photo
Name, where are you from?
Brooke Combe, Edinburgh.
Describe your style in three words?
Cool, trendy, relaxed.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Gotye. I remember the stage being filled with amazing musicians and I was blown away.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Wonder.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Hip-hop probably for a few reasons. I really love hip-hop culture in terms of fashion and dance and art. It feels really creative and expressive and I can relate to a lot of the lyrics that explore racial struggles.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Neil Armstrong. I would ask him so many questions. I love reading stories about space.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
King Tuts, Glasgow will always be a special place for me as it was my first ever headline gig. No doubt it’ll change the more I gig but for now, that holds a special place.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
My mum. She works harder than I’ve seen anyone work and it’s instilled a good work ethic for me heading into this kind of industry.
Brooke Combe recently released her new single 'Miss Me Now'. Listen, purchase or stream it via brookecombe.lnk.to/missmenowIN.
The first track you played on repeat?
'You Rock My World' by Michael Jackson.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Misery Business' by Paramore. It’s the first song that came to me thinking back to my early teens. I was a bit reckless around that age.
One record you would keep forever?
'Thinking of You' by Sister Sledge. That tune goes through my head every single day.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
“You know, we are people too / We’re like birds and the bees / But we’d rather die on our feet / Than keep living on our knees”
From 'Say It Loud - I'm Black And I'm Proud' by James Brown.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Hypnotize' by Biggie Smalls. That song gets me on the dance floor every time.
A song you wished you had written?
'You’re All I Need To Get By' by Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Are You Ready For Love' by Elton John.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
Anything by ABBA.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'I’m On Fire' by Bruce Springsteen.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
'What More?!' by Jamie Webster.
'Afterglow' by The Peach Fuzz.
