Name, where are you from?
Lucy Feliz from Brighton (I actually live near a park called 'The Level' and whenever I walk there, I get that Mac DeMarco tune in my head).
Describe your style in three words?
Lucid, explorative, boundless.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
I have seen some amazing people, (from Dolly Parton to Radiohead to Fontaines DC), but a favourite gig has to be Anna Calvi at The Great Escape! I was right at the front and the performance was so unexpectedly visceral and outrageously raw, I felt like she was channelling Freddie Mercury!
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
Cocteau Twins for all the immersive shoegaze feels, I’d probably learn a lot from them sonically and Jeff Buckley, cause he's one of my musical idols and the magic in the room would feel 'so real'! ...See what I did there ;)
Which Subcultures have influenced you?
I find the NYC '70s punk scene fascinating – to have that condensed group of musicians and artists making incredible work, embracing individualism and queerness is so inspiring to me. I think I’m mainly fascinated by Patti Smith after reading 'Just Kids'.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
John Lennon. He just seemed such a genuine soul and I think he’d be super humbling and have a really balanced outlook on the world.
Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
The gold theme at Moth Club is very my vibe.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Ali Chant is one of my favourite producers. He’s worked with lots of my favourite artists; Perfume Genius, Aldous Harding, Squirrel Flower, Katy J Pearson... 'Queen' by Perfume Genius is a great example of how he brings the artist’s vision to the surface.

The first track you played on repeat?
'Grace' by Jeff Buckley. Every time I play this song, I hear something new. It probably wasn't the first, but I definitely had Weyes Blood, 'In The Beginning' stuck on repeat for ages. I find it so meditative, and really good to listen to if feeling a bit existential.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'When You Were Young' by The Killers. It reminds me of going to music festivals, underage drinking, and generally having a wild time.
One record you would keep forever?
'Hounds Of Love' by Kate Bush. I saw her 'Before The Dawn' residency at the Apollo in London, and it was at a really transformative time in my life. She performed the 'Ninth Wave' (side 2 of the album 'Hounds Of Love') for the second half of the show and it was out of this world.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
“Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow”
From 'Life On Mars' by David Bowie. It’s a line I noticed as a kid in an abstract visual manner, that’s obviously changed its meaning over time for me in a social-political way.
A song you wished you had written?
'Frame Of Reference' by Drug Store Romeos. It’s so simple yet so good. I can’t stop listening to it.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Nothing Compares 2 U' by Sinéad O’Connor. It gets me every time :’).
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'The Next Episode' by Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg. I love a slice of hip-hop/rap (mainly Dr Dre and Kendrick Lamar tbh) when I drive at night, especially on the way back from gigs. Also just generally to shake up my mood.
The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Young Hearts Run Free' by Candi Staton. This song has such a pull over me and reminds me of being surrounded by drag queens and having fun at pride events… it always brings me joy!
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'True Love Will Find You In The End' by Daniel Johnston. Because the profound mystery of Daniel Johnston is good to fall asleep with.
Any new bands you are into at the moment?
Hanya, Melin Melyn, Hutch, Winter Gardens.
