Describe your style in three words?
Too many t-shirts!
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
The Americas - Rosanna
This is a song I`ve been playing on repeat the most. My beloved band and in my eyes - The Americas are the biggest band on the planet. Listen to the words "I`m not scared of no darkness, as long as I`ve got you here in my heart". This is not a song, this is a protective spell.
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
Table Scraps - Bad Feeling - 2018 Remaster
This is a cult band if you never came across one. Those who live in Birmingham will know them well. If you don't - please listen to Joe Talbot (IDLES) who said that everyone should be listening to Table Scraps. Powerful trio who shake the earth and make walls tremble.
A song from your most memorable gig?
The Cosmics - Drained
The Cosmics are a force of nature. The best of garage psychedelia that you can find out there, fiercely independent trio that tour relentlessly in the UK and abroad. I've seen them several times live and each time they were in top form.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Idealistics - Scandalous
Idealistics are Cambridge based trio known for their melodic punk (think early Manics meets Wolf Alice) and work they do to champion artists with disabilities. They take life with a sense of humour, determination and a pair of Doc Martens for an extra kick.
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
The Kecks - Stick in My Throat
The Kecks are a four piece based in Germany but include members from France, UK, Austria and Australia. They literary meet on a bus to a gig and their practice room is in a repurposed bunker. You can`t be more rock and roll than that.
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
DOXA - Thoughts and Prayers
Mother Earth Experiment were an incredible six piece psychedelic/art rock outfit from Birmingham. Once the band played their last gig, four original members founded DOXA. They use their platform to comment on social causes offering sharp observations on human conditions.
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
Chloe Mogg - Judgement Day
Chloe Mogg earned herself a reputation as a true bird of paradise due to her incredible voice, intimate gigs and her dedication in championing other unsigned artists. Chloe is also a music journalist, booker and a blogger.
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
The Novus - PMF
The Novus is a Brummie quartet so fiercely independent and yet beloved in the underground. They rolled together a concoction of art, political disobedience, punk rock aesthetics with a dose of sympathy and solidarity towards those who have been wronged by social rejection.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
The Earnest Spears - Happy? Go Lucky
The Earnest Spears shared stages with the likes of The Wytches and Press Club, released an EP, found themselves in rotation on BBC Introducing, sold out their own gigs and made pals with Murder Capital and IDLES. This is the band you want to see when the lockdown's are over.
