Describe your style in three words?
Giving zero f*cks.
The first track you played on repeat?
Bibio - lovers’ carvings
Tough question. Before my musical tastes were solidified, I'd probably had to say Britney Spears. But no, the answer falls on Bibio's anthem 'Lovers Carvings'. I just started studying and discovered this song for myself.
A song from your favorite album?
Iberia - Acab
To me, they appeared to be one of my most important new discoveries in 2014 on one of my trips to Sweden. Iberia was supposed to play at an afterparty of the WOW Festival. From the first listen on I knew I'd never forget this first and unfortunately only album.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Mount Kimbie - Before I Move Off
I must have seen Dom and Kai live about 10 times. But the gig that stuck in my mind the most was at the opening concert in the Colosseum of Pula in Croatia as part of the Dimensions Festival. I was lucky enough to be on stage when they played their first song 'Before I Move Off'.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Against All Logic - Rave on U
I have always been a big Nicolas Jaar fan - the works released under his moniker AAL have carried me away in a completely different way. The song title says it all - it's written by a raver for the rave. Big!
A new song you're listening to?
Burial - Chemz
This year Burial released another X-Mas single called 'Chemz'. Almost 7 minutes of non-stop 2-step beats bombardment. Surprise in the second half: Rough breaks come into play. The haunting vocals "High as f*ck" hover over the musical journey. Burial at his best.
Best song to turn up loud?
Oppenheimer Analysis - The Devil's Dancers
The secret weapon at every party - Devil's Dancers by the former coldwave duo Oppenheimer Analysis. Already released in 1982, this song is the perfect minimal synth-pop masterpiece. Can be heard quietly, but you want to hear it loud. Very loud!
A song that defines the teenage you?
Easter - Cheekbones
I don't know why but the song brings me all the nostalgia of teenage age. The first love, the first kiss. Hope but also a lot of pain. Cheekbones tells stories of parting ways and reunions - of how beautiful the teenage years were, although they seemed very draining at a time.
An anthemic song?
Animal Collective - My Girls
This song is a euphoric psych-pop firework of synthesizers, drum samples and harmonies that opens your heart wide. Maybe it's because the lyrics are so humble that the simple wish named in the song seems so trivial that it breaks your heart.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Real Lies - North Circular
One song I always listened after clubbing in London was definitely by Real Lies. Maybe because I also discovered them at that time and they had such a lasting impact. Their songs speak deeply from the soul of each person - North Circular does it in a special way.
