What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?

Z: Grouper - Murmrr Theatre, Brooklyn 2018. Extreme ethereal hypnosis.
R: Hot Chip at End of the Road 2021 - first gig after Covid and it felt like a religious experience.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
C: Women who post videos of themselves shaving their heads on YouTube.
R: I’m not sure if this is a subculture but dance videos on IG and the dancers on the subway in NYC. I love the courage it takes to dance in public and how much joy it brings people.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
C: Enya, preferably eating dinner in her castle. I just imagine the food would be really good. And Ziwe Fumudoh because she would rip me to pieces and it would be perfect.
Z: Louise Bourgeois or David Lynch.
R: Cleopatra for the absolute drama of it, she had so many secrets.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
C: We played in a gallery in Belfast called Framewerk and Róisín said “thank you Galway” on stage.
R: That was the first and last time I’ll ever drink while performing.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
C: Tobi Vail.
Z: Arthur Russell.
R: Carrie Brownstein, 'Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl' is one of the best descriptions of queerness and music I’ve ever read.
