Describe your style in three words?
Queer, androgynous, vintage.
The first track you played on repeat?
Al Wilson - The Snake
This song is a big family favourite, it gets put on at every family party and suddenly we're all up grooving. Every time I hear it I get reminded of that feeling of being on a dance floor surrounded by people you love and just can't stay still.
A song from your favorite album?
Persian Rug Sale - Look Back on Today
This song is from a really small local band that I've been listening to since they first started out. Their gigs have been some of my favourites, they have the best stage presence and they are all-round lovely people too!
A song from your most memorable gig?
The Smith Street Band - Death To The Lads
I was only 15 and been dragged to watch them by my best friend, I will admit now that I had never heard of them before but this song is a firm favourite as it takes me straight back to being younger.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music
I can't help myself with this song. The bassline is just too good to sit down to. It starts with a toe tap and ends in a full-body experience whether I'm in a club or the kitchen. Funk is one of the best genres to boogie to and this song is definitely my go-to.
A new song you're listening to?
Sammy Rae & The Friends - Let's Throw a Party!
I've been really getting into these guys at the moment. They have a proper old style mentality and sound with the bonus of modern day equipment. This song encompasses so many different feelings into one big mix and I think it is so beautiful.
Best song to turn up loud?
Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?
I am not and never have been a rapper but I find myself screaming the words to this one as I crank up the volume a little bit too much. I cannot say enough about it, such a classic with such a powerful message. Listening to it quietly is not an option.
A song that defines the teenage you?
dodie - She
I cried away my sexuality struggles to this song for way too many nights as a teen. As I listen to it now I'm so proud to be queer and to have come out of that dark side to a brighter one.
An anthemic song?
Dolly Parton - Islands In the Stream
What can I say, I'm a huge Dolly fan! It's such a good song, perfect to her up any situation. I just adore it with everything I am.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Whigfield - Saturday Night - Radio Mix
There is no better way to end a long night with one already choreographed last dance but let's be real... the Macarena is way too overrated! This may be one of the most repetitive songs (and dances yet) but it's a joy to listen to and a great ending note to an ace night.
