Describe your style in three words?
Classic Modern Retro.
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
The Jam - Going Underground
Friends bedroom when we were teenagers. Totally blew us away!
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
The Beatles - In My Life - Remastered 2009
Fell in love with this track as soon as I heard it as a kid. Resonates even more with the passing of time and becoming a parent and then a grandparent. People come and go in life. No matter what, I'll always love my family more. They're the constant!
A song from your most memorable gig?
Looking Glass - Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)
The gig was at the house of blues in Boston. The band was "yacht rock review". Everything about the band and music should've screamed no, but 3,000 people in sailors hats can't be wrong. A two hour guilty pleasure party!
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
Frank Wilson - Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)
Just so infectious! It makes a non-dancer dance with a smile on their face!
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
Parquet Courts - Almost Had to Start a Fight/In and Out of Patience
Not really a new song, two years old? Still on heavy rotation, love the raw urgency of it and the band and album are damn good!
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
Georgie Fame - Peaceful
I listen to this ANYWHERE! Shower, car, work and it's always loud! Has a summer feel and it just lifts me no matter what.
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
The Jam - When You're Young
Leaving school and realising life isn't all it's cracked up to be (in the early/mid 80s). The lyrics speak volumes - "It's got you in its grip before you're born, it's down to the use of a dice and a board, it lets you think you're the king but you're really the pawn".
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
Oasis - Don't Look Back in Anger
I saw Noel do this with the high flying birds at the V festival years ago (he'd only had one album out at the time). The crowd took the song over. Real hairs on the back of the neck moment. He wasn't even headlining, that was the Stone Roses, and Noel stole the show.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Nick Drake - River Man
A man, a guitar and his voice and little else more. Totally relaxing and soothing and chills me out every time.
