Describe your style in three words?
LOOSE FIT/woolly.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
A Certain Ratio at Shinjuku MARZ in Tokyo. It was the last international band I saw play before returning to Australia and going into lockdown and it absolutely ripped! Some other favourites have been Cate le Bon at the Factory Theatre in Sydney and Prince at The Sydney Opera House.

If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
Use No Hooks are an Aussie post-punk dance band from the '80s. I only discovered them in recent years when Chapter Music issued an archival discography. Playing on the same line up would be a great excuse to see them live. I’d also like to play on a line-up with Selda Bağcan, specifically in the mid-to-late ’70s. She was an absolutely trailblazing psychedelic folk protest singer in a male dominated scene in Turkey. Her voice is so powerful.

Which subcultures have influenced you?
I’ve always loved subcultures that have one foot in the music world and one foot in the fashion world. Vivienne Westwood’s early punk brand 'Seditionaries' is a perfect example of how the two worlds are intrinsically intertwined and shape each other. The clothing was a tangible expression of the anti-establishment music.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history? 
I’m not religious, but I reckon an hour with medieval Saint, author, artist, composer, mystic, pharmacist, early feminist figure (the list goes on…), Hildegard von Bingen would be pretty eye-opening! I’m not sure one of her compositions quite fits with this playlist, so maybe just check out a collection of her works.

Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Playing on a spectacular rooftop cactus garden in inner-city Sydney surrounded by people in highrise apartments curiously watching us record a live performance will probably always be a standout. But if I’m being really honest, my favourite gigs I’ve played have always been small DIY venues such as 96 Tears in Sydney, or One Year in Melbourne,s where there is a real community spirit and it feels like there is no divide between the band and audience.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Johanna Pigott from XL Capris, Scribble, Sardine V. Not only did she play in some of the coolest underground Australian bands, she was also the first Australian female to have written a number one hit ('Age of Reason' by John Farnham).
