A Clwb Fuzz Photo
Name, where are you from?
Joe, Emily, Hayden and Gruff. We’re from a mixture of everywhere, England and Wales but we are all currently based In Cardiff.
Describe your style in three words?
Old man chic.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
We all went to see Fat White Family when they played Cardiff was mental, people crowd surfing, the bassist getting in tiffs with someone in the crowd and Working Men’s Club Supporting, what else would you want.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
We’d probably have to say Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead. We idolise them so much and would be an amazing gig if we could get over the fangirling. Would also give us a chance to nick all their pedal layouts.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
J: When I was younger I really loved the whole '60s Mod culture but then have grown up loving everything including the Punk and Grunge subcultures.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Maybe like Ron Ashton from The Stooges, he seems like an odd guy reckon he would fit in well with us. And our love for his Fuzzy tone is where we got our name.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
H: I like the Crofters Rights.
G: I’m gonna stick with Clwb Ifor Bach because it feels like home now.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
We’d say Bill Ward from Black Sabbath doesn’t get enough praise, everyone's always going on about Ozzy and Tony but Bill’s drums are just godly. Give Bill a Chance.

The first track you played on repeat?
E: Probably something like 'Happy House' by Siouxsie and The Banshees, I still have great feelings for that song.
A song that defines the teenage you?
G: 'Leash' by Pearl Jam.
One record you would keep forever?
I think the only thing we would collectively agree on is 'In Utero' by Nirvana.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
E: This was hard for me because I’m a sucker for anything Kate Bush writes, but I think one of my favourite lines would be from the chorus of 'You Want The Alchemy' which goes “They got alchemy, they turn the roses into gold, they turn the lilac into honey, they’re making love for the peaches and they’ll do it, do it for you.”
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Paint It Black' by The Rolling Stones. Just reminds us of being on a night out one night where Hayden and Gruff were doing some very aggressive knee-slapping along to the song.
A song you wished you had written?
J: Definitely 'Changes' by David Bowie, imagine just being able to be like here’s a little song I’ve written and come out with that.
Best song to turn up loud?
H: 'Song For The Dead' by Queens Of The Stone Age. Just a great song to blast out the car when your driving, makes you feel like your zooomin'.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Crackin' Cold Ones With The Boys' by The Cadillac Three.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
Got to be 'Swinging Party' by The Replacements.
Any new bands you are listening to right now?
J: 'Take Back The Radio' by Katy J Pearson.
H: 'Athen’s France' by Black Country, New Road.
G: 'Secret To A Happy Life' by TJ Roberts.
E: 'Bet My Brains' by Starcrawler.
