A Ded Rabbit Photo
Name, where are you from?
Ded Rabbit - We stay in Edinburgh but we grew up in the highlands and are originally from Yorkshire.
Describe your style in three words?
Indie, retro and a bit preppy.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Connan Mockasin at the Royal Concert Hall (new auditorium) 1st Nov 2018. It was evident that whoever was behind the booking of the tour had put a lot of thought behind where they were going to perform. The sound was the best I've ever heard as the newly opened new auditorium has large and small scale articulation throughout the hall that scatters the sound around the hall at different frequencies. They started the set in character from his new short film and then playing their classics in the second half providing the perfect marriage between a super tight band and great venue.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
The Clash - one of our biggest influences. Tame Impala - we love Kevin Parker's songwriting.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Punk rock - musically influenced us and the ideas and way of thinking has always given us a DIY approach to the whole process.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Little Richard - he seemed like he'd be a laugh to be around for an hour.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
Sociedade Harmonia Eborense - Evora, Portugal. We played there when we were on tour a couple of years ago and were blown away by it. It was a lovely old building in the middle of Evora which is a historic town in rural Portugal. It was a great atmosphere, lovely people and great crowd.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
William Onyeabor - massively influential and reasonably unknown.
Ded Rabbit recently released their new track 'All Fired Up'. Listen, purchase or stream it via smarturl.it/tdn5h3?IQid.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Genius' by Kings Of Leon.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth' by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
One record you would keep forever?
'Modern Love' by David Bowie.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
'That Old Black Hole' by Dr. Dog.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Millionaire' by Kelis.
A song you wished you had written?
'Don't Believe A Word' by Thin Lizzy.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Waiting Room' by Fugazi.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Into The Groove' by Madonna.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Don't You Know (Even Longer Edit)' by Jan Hammer Group.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
'Brain Telephone' by Frankie And The Witch Fingers.
'Milk and Honey' by Sheer Mag.
'Monkey' by Kurt Vile.
'All Along The Uxbridge Road' by Chubby and The Gang.
'Not' by Big Thief.
'Mona' by Foxygen.
