A Eades Photo
Name, where are you from?
We are Eades from Leeds.
Describe your style in three words?
It’s Grandad Chic.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Cage The Elephant played in my mate's bedroom when we were about 13. That was pretty inspiring. My mate's brother-in-law was their tour manager.
If you could be on the line up with any two artists in history?
I would have loved to see The Who back in the day for the pure showmanship and energy. They also had a huge sound for a three-piece. I guess they were doing punk before it was a thing. Just getting to see that level, and energy and musicianship combined must have been insane. My number two would have to be Velvet Underground during the 'White Light/White Heat' era. Just because it was so ahead of its time.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Post-punk, new wave, grunge, proto-punk, surf rock, no wave… the list goes on and on.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I wouldn't of minded knowing what Hendrix’s practice routine was.
Of all the venues you’ve been to or played, which is your favourite?
I love Paradiso in Amsterdam. That main room is amazing and full of so much history. I also love Amsterdam as a city... I also loved playing Electric Brixton because I had so many great memories of that place as a punter. Though there's a lot of great Leeds venues that are very close to my heart. (Brudenell Social Club, Oporto, Hyde Park Book Club etc.)
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
I don't think Colin Newman (Wire) gets enough widespread appreciation outside of your Pitchforks etc.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Another Brick In The Wall' by Pink Floyd.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Two Step, Twice' by Foals.
One record you would keep forever?
'Teens Of Denial' by Car Seat Headrest.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
'Death Or Glory' by The Clash.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Fools Gold' by The Stone Roses.
A song you wished you had written?
'I Wanna Be Your Dog' by Iggy Pop.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Sister Ray' by Velvet Underground.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Warning Sign' by Coldplay.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'Wide Awake!' by Parquet Courts.
Any new music you are listening to right now?
'Oh Why?' by Honey Guide.
'The Treacle Trap Door' by English Teacher.
'Borderlines' by Vraell.
