The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?

Blur - Girls and Boys

I remember being very fond of Blur's 'Best Of' album in primary school, most likely because of the Julian Opie artwork. There were many living room gigs at which I played guitar on my tennis racket and sang my own phonetic interpretation of the lyrics.

A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?

Shame - Concrete

It's only 1 year old but it is definitely my current favourite. As much as I like The Clash, Stone Roses & The Libertines, they belong to kids of other generations, Shame for some reason feels like our generation's version of those bands, it's a band we can claim as being 'ours'.

A song from your most memorable gig?

The Libertines - Time For Heroes

I've always been a massive Peter Doherty fan and seeing him re-open Le Bataclan in Paris was pretty special. His ramshackle performance proved that venue (and the city) would not let terrorists win, and was ready to get back to its rocking ways.

A song that always gets you up and dancing?

Calvin Harris - One Kiss (with Dua Lipa)

There's a clip of Liverpool fans rocking out to this at the 2018 Champions League final. They didn't care about people saying Dua doesn't belong at a football match, and recognized it for what it is: a banger. Ever since I saw that clip, I just can't help jumping around to this

Hotel Lux - English Disease

Utterly brilliant. The lyrics remind me of the sort of conversations I had with my English/Dutch Literature university pals.

Primal Scream - I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have

Shout-out to my father who always turns it up to 11 when this songs comes on.

The Clash - (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais

I was VERY obsessed with The Clash, studying every detail of their career and mourning the fact that I'd never get to meet Joe Strummer, or see them in concert.

The Stone Roses - I Am The Resurrection

My DJ friends used to play this when I told them I was going home, they knew it is one of my favourite songs and it would make me stay another 10 minutes at least. So whenever I hear it, I always think the night is over.
