Famie Suliman AKA Famie Singapura. Music Lover.

Describe your style in 3 words?
Rock N Roll.

What does the Fred Perry Shirt mean to you?
Modern Klassic.

What is the first song you played on repeat?
As I can remember vividly, my mama ever loop a phrase "Pami, pami, pami" not sure of the title but its in Malay. I tot the song sounded close to my name and I loved it. Imagine you are just 4 yrs old and you thought somebody have written a song for you. cool.

What is one record you would keep forever?
My group, The Pinholes, recent 'Test Press' album.  It's 1 of only 5 in the world and it's our 1st record on wax.

What is a song lyric that has inspired you?
"Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass,
they slip away across the universe,
Pools of sorrow,

What has been the best gig you've been to?
Travis/Coldplay gig in 2001. What an epic double bill.
Of course, I prefer the headliner of that night. All I Wanna Do Is Rock.

Who is your ultimate British musical icon?
John Lennon.

What song do you wish you had written?
All the number 1 songs on the radio airwave in the mid 60's till mid 70's.

Where do you go to see live music?
I used to go to the Defuct live venue, Home Club, a lot. Such a great vibe and good homegrown made music.
Nowadays, I love this place, Decline in Geylang Lorong 23. Our very own CBGB or even better.

'La Obe' by The Swallows.
The tune that defines the British Invasion. especially the Kinkesque influence with a Boyanese language.

'Bunyi Gitar' by P.Ramlee.
Southeast Asia's finest director/actor/composer of his time. wrote this surf/A-go-go tune.

'Budi Setahun Segunung Intan' by Ahmad Jais / Kartina Dahari.
An iconic horns section intro that defines two of the finest singer of that time. which path them with further success and fame.

'Pretty Baby' by BeeJays.
I love the doo wap melody and flow of the song.

'Freedom' by Straydogs.
I bet Beck took the riff from these tunes that eventually bring it back to Singapore and lend us(The Pinholes) some inspiration. An absolute revolutionary tune.

'Hotpants' by Xperiments.
Cool funk vibe with crooning vocals.

'Spaceman Over Malaysia' by Force Vomit.
In the 90s, this surf punk tune was discovered by legendary radio DJ, John Peel and got airtime on BBC.

'So Much In Love' by All-4-One.
One of my favourite acapella songs.

'Korega Watashino Ikiru Michi' by Puffy.
The first alternative band from Japan that I heard in the mid 90's and I fall in love. Very Beatlesque too.

'Never Liked The Beatles' by Popland.
I saw them years back in the 90s at a venue called "Roomful of Blues" and I absolutely love the tune. When Kevin introduces the title, I laugh but its a cool song is a song. And yes of cos I do love The Beatles.

'Kaliwate' by Eraserhead.
Discover this group from MTV days for MTV Southeast Asia, I was so proud of them when they won the best SE Asia band at the MTV Music Awards in New York for the song "Fruitcake" & I managed to catch them live years later when they came over to Singapore for a one night only show. The whole place was mental, and I felt like I was in Manila.

'Late Night Request' by Great Spy Experiment.
Great tune from a now defunct group. A dear friend and I did a cover of this tune acousticly years back.  Still today, it still gives me goosebump when I listen to them.
