A Lime Garden Photo
Name, where are you from?
Lime Garden. Annabel is from Edinburgh, Tippi is from the Wirral, Chloe is from Oxford and Leila is from Surrey - but we are currently living in Brighton.
Describe your style in three words?
Wonky, catchy, vibey.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
A: Young Fathers at Brixton Academy.
T: Kikagaku Moyo at Wide Awake - The percussion wall was mind-blowing and still is ingrained in my mind.
If you could be on the lineup with any two bands in history?
Talking Heads + Abba… they both know how to put on a show!
Which Subcultures have influenced you?
T: When I was a teenager I was huge into the Riot Grrrl movement and grunge/punk. I think I used those years to get my frustrations out and now I remain fairly calm and level headed lol.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
T: George Harrison 100%. He had such an impact on my life growing up and I would love to learn more from him stylistically and personally!
Of all the venues you’ve been to, which is your favourite?
A: Sneaky Petes in Edinburgh is one of my favourites, always a great vibe and it's the perfect size where everything feels pretty intimate.
T: The Lexington was such a cool venue to play. The downstairs is such a grand pub and you wouldn’t expect such a sick venue to be upstairs.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
T: Bruce Hornsby - such a talented pianist and singer. Hugely appreciated in the ’80s but not recognised as much as I would like by my generation! (Thanks Dad for introducing me to him).
The first track you played on repeat?
A: 'Electric Feel' by MGMT. This song still slaps so hard. In recent years it’s '3 Nights' by Dominic Fike.
T: 'Hung Up' by Madonna. I loved it as a kid and watched the music video hundreds of times.
A song that defines the teenage you?
A: 'Thirteen' by Big Star. I was into some shocking emo music as a teenager but I think this is the song I still listen to the most.
T: I was into a lot of heavy doom as a teenager and I still have a soft spot for bands like Electric Wizard and Kyuss etc.
One record you would keep forever?
A: 'Animal' by LUMP or 'Song's of Her's' by Her's.
T: Very cliche but I have an original Sgt Peppers pressing which is my prized possession.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
A: 'Handshakes' by Do Nothing has always inspired me loads. They are so obscurely specific that they almost seem personal.
T: 'Hello It’s Me' by Todd Rundgren makes me feel so nostalgic and comforted. A very good heartbreak song.
A song you wished you had written?
A: 'Ode To Boy' by Sorry.
T: 'Arrow Through Me' by Wings.
Best song to turn up loud?
T: 'Rasputin' by Boney M.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
A: '17 Going Under' by Sam Fender. Banger.
T: 'These Eyes' by The Guess Who. The cheesiest song ever but I LOVE it.
The song to get you straight on the dance floor?
A: 'Black Hole' by Griff.
T: 'Deadly Valentine' by Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
A: 'Sex Dream; Marine' by infinute bisous.
T: 'Seventeen' by Sharon Van Etten.
Any new bands you are into at the moment?
Blood Wizard, The Umlauts, English Teacher, caroline + loads more!
