A Porsh Bet$ Photo
Name, where are you from?
My name is Porsh Bet$ and I’m from Harlem, New York.
Describe your style in three words?
Cozy, cute, simple.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
There’s a college where I live and one time for their spring break concert they had Lil Yachty and Khalid come perform and I got in somehow even though I didn’t go to the school. It was pretty turnt because that was when they both were really going crazy like 2018 I think it was.
If you could be on the line up with any two bands in history?
I would say Tyler, The Creator because he has this certain way of performing that feels authentic but still grand if that makes sense. I’d say Billie Eilish too, she jumps around a lot and gets hype but she also could be so mellow.
Which subcultures have influenced you?
Definitely the time when A$AP was coming up it was fire, it had this energy and I wanted to be a part of it but I was like thirteen at the time. Kinda why I put the $ in my name to pay homage to that.
If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
Rick Rubin, I know he’s still alive but he’s a part of so much history and different cultures but he’s still tapped in to this day. He’s just an OG so it would be cool to get in a room with him.
Of all the venues you’ve played, which is your favourite?
I haven’t played a show yet so probably just my shower.
Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
Pharrell, that man has so many hits of his own but also that he’s produced for other people. And bro doesn’t age he literally looks the same as 2002.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Find Your Love' by Drake.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Self Control' by Frank Ocean.
One record you would keep forever?
'Nothing Was The Same' by Drake.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
“Life can be a drag, but you can’t drag it backwards”
From 'Naked' by Bickle.
The song that would get you straight on the dance floor?
'Poke It Out' by Playboi Carti, Nicki Minaj.
A song you wished you had written?
'Forrest Gump' by Frank Ocean.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Brown Eyed Lover' by Allen Stone.
Best song to bring people together?
'Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You' by Ms. Lauryn Hill.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Tiny Dancer' by Elton John.
Best song to end an all-nighter on?
'1st Time' by Bakar.
Any new bands you are listening to right now?
'Got A New Guitar Today. This Old Doesn’t Stay In Tune' by Poolfire.
'Stoked' by Joe Rico.
'Summer Vibe' by Forrest Nolan.
