Student Nurse / Model — Melbourne
A Brandon Muchemedzi Photo
Name, where are you from?
My name is Brandon Muchemedzi, 20 years of age and ethnically I’m from Zimbabwe but I’m currently located in the city of Melbourne in Australia!
What do you do?
I am a student nurse in training at a nursing school, I also do modelling and I am presently signed with Brooklyn management agency. I also work part-time at a retail shop named Neverland which is located at Melbourne central in the city’s CBD.
Describe your style in three words?
Versatile, creative and cool I’d say, at least I like to think so.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to in Australia?
The favourite gig I have been to would have to be Spilt Milk festival of 2019, only because one of my favourite artists at the time was performing and the track that stuck with me that night or that brings me memories of that gig would be a song called 'Armed and Dangerous' by Juice WRLD.
Which Australian subcultures have influenced you?
I’d say the hippie and rock subcultures because they have kind of made me become more versatile in how I listen to music, dress and style myself. They are out of my comfort zone and enabled me to incorporate other styles and ways of life, thus making me more eclectic with my taste in everything.
Best Australian musician?
The best Australian musician in my opinion would be the band AC/DC and this is proven through their iconic track titled 'Highway to Hell', which is a fan favourite!
What is Australia’s best-kept secret?
Australia’s best-kept secret I’d say is that they eat kangaroo, which not many people would expect given that it’s the national animal but yes they really do be eating it!
Best place to hang out in Australia?
The best locations to hang in Australia would be landmarks such as Uluru mountain, Mt Martha where it snows and not forgetting the coastal and beachy areas such Mornington Peninsula and mainly CBD areas such as Melbourne city, Opera house and Sydney harbour bridge… most of these places have breathtaking views.
The first track you played on repeat?
'Power' by Kanye West from his 2010 album, 'My Dark Twisted Fantasy'.
A song that defines the teenage you?
'Wet Dreamz' by J Cole. Not only I can confirm this but all the other teenagers/young adult males too. It’s so relatable and in a way makes us feel somewhat okay with our raging hormones as kids and helps us to understand that we are not alone or weird for having those “raging hormones”.
One record you would keep forever?
'The Life of Pablo' by Kanye West and my favourite song on the record is 'FML'. This record is very eclectic and unique as it has many different sounds that make your mood fluctuate; from sad to happy to hyped to angry to sad again and so on. The instruments, construction of the beats and the samples as well as adlibs make it even more enjoyable and make it my favourite record ever.
A song lyric that has inspired you?
“you may win a trophy, plaque or crown but never turn your back around”
From 'Stop Trying to Be God' by Travis Scott. He meant that often people succeed and forget where they came from, or lose who they are, or those that helped them get where they are and that’s something you should never do… turn your back around.
A song you wished you had written?
'Sacrifices' by Dreamvile on their 'Revenge Of The Dreamers III' album. This song features a handful of artists including EARTHGANG and J. Cole but all in all the message from this song is - be yourself, don’t try and please people… expect sacrifices if you want to succeed in life because we can never have it all.
Best song to turn up loud?
'Sicko Mode' by Travis Scott and Drake.
A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
'Wildest Dreams' by Taylor Swift. Simply because I’m not her target audience really, but it’s such a good song!
A song to get you straight on the dance floor?
'Hey Ya!' By OutKast because the beat and melody are so good, fast-paced and lighthearted and just make you want to dance away.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
'Days Of Wine And Roses' by Frank Sinatra. Classical music is always a good way to finish the night off and this song is specifically because it’s a chill song and a “roll the credits” type of song!
Any new bands you’re into at the moment?
Currently, I have been into brands such as Fred Perry, Aimeloendure, Rhude, because these brands are very versatile and edgy/cool at the same time because they make streetwear as well as formal wear and sometimes they style it all one and the same and this creates that unique look that I like.
